Pin- Type Moisture Meters

Pin-type moisture meters measure MC% (moisture content percentage) at the depth of the head of the contact pins by measuring the electrical resistance between the two pins. This method of inserting pins into a surface is typically viewed as a destructive test method for measuring moisture content. Typically these meters will read at a depth of 5/16". However, you can typically purchase insulated pins which only take a reading from the tips of the pins showing the user how deep the moisture is located. These pins range anywhere in length from 1"-7". Pin-type meters are useful in measuring moisture content % in wood flooring, drywall, painted surfaces, and carpeting. These meters are the best way to identify the exact location of moisture buildup.
